Bah Humbug.
What, did you think I’d wish you a Merry Christmas? Sorry but I’m not down with the Yuletide joy this year.

Believe me I tried. Why do you think I begged Isabel to let me be Santa?

Damn that Snowflake. I’m ass backwards in love with her but does it matter? No. She needs to find herself.

I guess that’s my Christmas present this year, a big fat wake up call. And to think, I asked for an X-Box.

So yeah, Bah Humbug.

I wanted to make this Christmas really special for Maria. I bought her a ring. Not an engagement ring, I’m not that crazy, but a promise ring. I was going to promise her forever and she bailed. Isn’t that perfect?

“There you are.”

Max and Liz are attached at the lips, Isabel and Jesse are still in the honeymoon phase, and I have a promise ring sitting in my pocket but no one to give it to.

“Yeah here I am.”

She sits down next to me.

“I’ve spent the last hour looking for you. Max was ready to call the Sheriff.”

“You can call off the dogs you found me.”

She takes off her coat and puts it around my shoulders.

“You’re freezing cold.”

“Isabel.”

“I’m taking you home.”

All those annoying and repetitive Christmas songs the radio plays over and over talk about home. I’ll be home for Christmas, Home for the holidays, all that good stuff. But I don’t want to be home for Christmas. I don’t want to watch Max and Liz snuggling on the couch or sleep in my bed without Maria next to me.

“No thanks.”

“What are you going to do? Just sit out here all night.”

I don’t want her here. If I tell her why I’m so upset, she’ll get upset too. It’s how she is. First she does that thing where her lower lip quivers and then the tears will start. I hate that.

“Yeah.”

“That’s stupid Michael.”

“Thanks a lot.”

“So what’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Did you have another fight with Snowflake?”

“Don’t mention her name. She and I are over – for good this time.”

I was right. There goes the lip.

“Michael, I’m so sorry.”

Yep, and now the tears.

“Isabel.”

“It’s Christmas and you’re unhappy. That makes me unhappy.”

“Ugh, you’re getting all mushy.”

I got her to smile a little. That’s no small feat.

“I have something to make you happy. Open my present. I forgot to give it to you earlier.”

She hands me a rather large box. I hope its not another sweater. No, this box is too square. Ohmigod, it’s a…

“Ahhhh. You got me an X-Box!”

“I had a feeling you’d want that.”

My grin spoke volumes.

“How did you know?”

I’m squealing. How does she do this?

“I’m the Christmas Nazi. I have my ways.” She says that nickname I gave her with sarcasm.

I throw my arm around her shoulder.

“I will never call you that again. I can’t believe you got me this.”

She smiles.

“Are you gonna thank me or what?”

I’m not good with those.

“Yeah, um, thanks.”

“Yeah, um, you’re welcome.”

I roll my eyes. Isabel is definitely one in a million.

“Come back to my house?” I ask expecting her to say no. She probably wants to spend the night with her husband.

She is thinking about it.

“Yeah okay, for a while.” She looks at her watch. “Jesse is probably asleep anyway.”

“Okay.”

“But Michael.”

I look at her quizzically.

“No using your powers to cheat.”

“Like I’d do that.”

“Yeah, sure you’d never do that.”

“Brat.”

“Pain.”

“Christmas Nazi.”

“Hey, you promised.”

“Oops.”

“Michael!”

“It slipped.”

“Whatever you say Santa.”

“Can we just go.”

“Yeah, let’s go home.”

The way the Christmas episode should have ended.
